i couldnt find another thread like this... was wondering if we had any protogees out there? ;-)

i tried to play b2b on the gutar, but was very disappointed when my teacher informed me that i could only do the chords and the twangy bits were converted to piano. so i gave up. i can play the piano intro for wisemen on the guitar, although the fingering is munted.

anyone else?

I've been playing guitar for almost 8 years now, I love to play his songs I taught and found the intro of same mistakes all by myself, hihi. I don't think they are difficult to play at all, and my little sister has started learning the piano and always wants to play songs together with me. I feel like James and she's my beardy XD

I play the chords on guitar (can do the intro to wisemen too!) and pretty much all of them on piano. I've got both songbooks. Tis fun

I sing James' songs all the time--in the car and at home, but I don't play the guitar or piano.

Only in the shower, car etc. Places where I'm on my own. It's not fair to subject anyone to my renditions!!!!

Dreamt about James singing for me last night tho!

Some of my friends learned how to play You're beautiful and No bravery for me....nice present! And we "try" to sing together, but it's not that easy to be as good as Mr Blunt himself!!!

Other thant that, I too sing in the shower or in my car! And I love it!

I've been playing the guitar for about 9 years so far and I could convince my teacher to show me how to play Cry, Wisemen and Carry you home. I even played and sang Cry and Wisemen at small concerts which was a hell lot of fun!
And since my teacher got a bit tired of my madness about James (although he assures Wisemen's one of the best songs!), I've taught myself how to play most of the other songs on my own. I wish I was better at playing the piano, though. So I could also play songs like NB or GML... Well, maybe someday.

I learnt to play the guitar in school and taught myself to play saxophone, i just love the sound of a sax. I haven't played mine in years but would love to take it up again, i still have it in my attic, i would probably be a bit rusty to begin with. Was wondering what songs of James's would sound good on sax, i have an Alto sax.

Typo my foot! LOL!

My husband is a multi-talented musician, who is a really good guitarist, keyboardist, bassist and even a decent drummer.

He used to play GML, Tears & Rain, Same Mistake, Breathe, and others in our basement music studio. Alas, he doesn't like much of ATLS, so hasn't been playing any JB for me lately, that bum! Instead, he tortures me with Radiohead and Arcade Fire, over and over and over again!
Sigh.

Well, honestly...the keyboard was not behaving...thats my story and I'm sticking with it! ;-)

I wonder what YB would sound like if they made it heavier, more guitars, louder? not such a high range in the vocals, bring it down a bit.

Radiohead isnt THAT bad is it?

I've often wondered that too dhipeechik - what YB would be like if they rocked it up a bit, not to take over from the original of course, couldn't do that, but just as an experiment one off thing xx

No, Radiohead is not that bad unless you have to hear the same song over, and over, and over again, until it is perfected. Oy! ;-)

A harder version of YB could be interesting, but it would require a deeper voice, I think, to make it work.

girls, step away from YB!!

i think it is gorgeous the way it is, and if you made it "heavier" i think it would lose some of the special essence and magic that the song holds.
