This option of receiving an email alert when a forum's member sends us a private message on the forum has not worked for many years. But now, it's back!!!

And it's back with the full backlog too...

Check your inbox, it could be full of PM alerts like this:

James Blunt Official Forum - New Private Message!

Hi N...,

This is a friendly notification to inform you that N... sent you a new private message entitled: "N...".

This is the equivalent of a food mixer without the lid on it. Can someone pull the plug?

Thank you tech support for working on the forum's issues. We had lost hope after all those years.

Question: I'm wondering if my email provider will block JB.com now anyway thinking it's a spam attack.

Billy: I hope you're not receiving thousands of email alerts as we speak, your cell phone is going to explode!

Well, on the plus side after going through the 100's of backlogged email alerts I was getting today I found an old one with a forum password reset, and it works!! After being locked out the forums for so long I'm finally back!!

The email alerts seem to have stopped now. I hope it hasn't caused too many problems to JB server or people's email inboxes.... I'm guessing a lot of old members who haven't visited for a while must've got them too ...great publicity stunt to bring them all back

I don't send PMs so didn't have the problem like everyone else did. But i do know someone who did, she got over 40 emails in 30 minutes and was not very happy.

Well, Holy Moly!!!! After being locked out for over a year I finally got about 20 emails this morning and one of them had a password reset. I wasn't loosing my mind, I didn't forget my password. I had the correct one the whole time but it just stopped working. Some of the emails sent to me this morning contained my old password.

Hi all,

we got 5 spam-emails with the info of getting private messages from some of you.

But when I log in there is no private message. the panel is not full.

So I think they are spams indeed.

Hi ina und thommy, the messages are not spam, they are very belated notifications of private messages!
It is likely that you have read and replied to these messages years ago

I usually use silly subject titles in my e-mails and recognise them all in the notification e-mails that are landing in my inbox, definitely not spam!

I'm sure you sent me a PM once actually titled 'SPAM'. That most definitely was spam....old, well past it's sell by date spam!
