I mention this topic on the old message board, just wanted to see if anyone views about this topic has changed.

Some musicians have been knighted for services to music and charity work.
James has done a great service to British music, with the best selling album this century. Plus he is involved in various charities and helping to save the planet.
I don't expect James to receive any knighthood now, but maybe sometime in the next few years.

Oh i hope so, he certainly deserves it!! As you say lb it would probably take a few years, but i don't see why not. Sir James Blount, does have a certaing ring to it doesn't it? Lady Jan Blount has a better ring to it don't you think? xx

Its a possibility ... but probably not for a good while yet. Those in the music business that do get these honours generally get them later on in their career.

And as for the Queen and the sword thing, I'm reminded of an interview JB gave on CDUK ages ago, where he was asked what the Queen might say to him now and he replied "Orf with his head". I also remember a certain boardie at the time using that as part of a remix of You're Beautiful. Maybe he could be persuaded to post it again

I definitely believe James Hillier Blount will be knighted some day.It takes a number of years after you become famous and you have done many good deeds, and then you are eligible for knighthood.I believe James is such a good candidate that it won't take too many years. And I believe he trully admires the Queen, and I believe she thinks a lot of him also.I don't think it will take too long.Way to go James, keep making us proud of you.James greatest fan.Love.Loril.

Who knows, Canadian vocalist Celine Dion was recently knighted by the French Prime Minister(?) for her efforts to advance French culture and the language outside the borders of France.

I suppose James has served in a more expanded capacity and may be granted that honor sooner rather than later.

I love James. I do.

I just don't see him getting knighted.
I'd love to be wrong though.

He deserves the recognition and in those terms it would be an honour, but does he really need, or want, a title when he's already great without one??

I agree with you,James is already great, and doesn't really need it,but I am sure it would make him feel great in his soul knowing yhe Queen thought highly of him,and he could put to rest all these British papers who put him down.Nothing more need be said.I would love to see him get it , because he is humble and a hard worker, and puts others ahead of himself.James greatest fan.Love.Loril.

Being old & wrinkly seems to be a prerequisite for a knighthood.

I never thought you english fellas would need any more knights after Sean Connery got made one :-)

I can't see it in the short term, maybe a bit later on. He's only just made a name for himself and his charities, he may get an MBE or an OBE before hand.

James Blunt will never ever receive a knighthood. For one, it is against everything he stands for, and, two, the monarchy will soon disappear from the pages of time. You mark my words Bluntites.

It may or may not ever happen but we don't make that decision and who knows what the future holds. If it is a possibility in the future then James has or will have done something to deserve it and good for him. I don't make the assumption that I know what James would think of it. I think we have a long ways to go before we see the Monarchy disappear, some changes maybe.

That could happen, Julie. I suppose he would have to consider his family and their history as well. I think it would be a well thought out decision for James to accept or not.

I just wanted to renew this thread, as following the success of his ATLS tour and the funds raised for MSF, I think he deserves a knighthood. Come on Liz, honour this talented Brit! ;-)

'Robbie Williams'

"Look I told you humans the answer to this at Sun Jun 08, 2008 2:01 pm. Since then there have been three more posts. Why doesn't anybody listen to me?"

I listened, I just don't agree.

Considering his military history, musical talent (which has done wonders for the British music industry across the globe) and his support of various charities I reckon he's a strong contender. I reckon he might even shave for the occasion!

Although I still ponder whether James actually needs one, because he's great already without a nighthood. However, having just read what Sangria wrote ----

....'could put to rest all these British papers who put him down. Nothing more need be said. I would love to see him get it , because he is humble and a hard worker, and puts others ahead of himself' ....

She's got a point and I must say it's a delightful image to imagine egg all over the faces of offending reporters who write ridiculously pathetic statements about James - and their newspaper owners for publishing them. That would be SO good.

I don't see much point in the whole process, unless he gets free parking or something like that. What kind of perks to Knights of the Chairs get? Is there like a button or something? So they get a stamp? Stamps are always good.
