Juley Croley...

"I can say that as a Brickie's wife, who has shared a few stories of work mates who have downed trowels when James's songs have been heard on the radio on the scaffold, to sing a long with James"

We had a building site near us and I heard them singing along to YB very loudly one day (out of tune and and seeming to take the **** out of it). Classic, brickies getting all sentimental!

So well noticed about the wolves and same mistake, just like howling at the moon! This bit where he sings "ooooooooh" always made me laugh!

By the way, it was my bf who introduced me to JB!!!! And I know he likes him, he has all his songs on his IPod but he doesn't mention him as his favourite music on Facebook, because I think he is embarrassed of it
and my dad used to make fun of JB (esp Same mistake!), but I made him go to the concert with me in Cyprus and he said he got goose-bumps when the whole arena was singing along to Goodbye my lover.

Fentinger,

Happy anniversary to you!

I am also male. I love his music, but I don't really have a lot of merchandise, only the CD's.
His music touched me very much. Other guys in my age hate James Blunt for his voice. Why I do not know. They say he sings like a duck. But anyway they have no idea.
James is a versatile artist, he goes crazy when "So Long Jimmy" and is very quiet in "Tears and Rain" and "Cry".
That's what I love about him. I will even be a musician, and go in about the same way as James. This is the ideal way to music.
He is just great and I say this as a man!

Well,

there are mature men, who have the courage to admit they do like music,

and there are men … but I'm sure they are nice and friendly guys too. =)

Hi Miki,

Nice to meet you. It's funny to read your comment "I recognise me in all James's songs" because I have that same feeling with some of his songs...but I'm a married woman in my 40s, living thousands of miles from you. James certainly has a gift of being able to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds through his music.

By the way, many years ago (before you were born) I went to Montenegro with my husband...we stayed in the Sveti Stefan island hotel. The service and food was absolutely fantastic and the hotel totally unique, being an island fortress that was converted to a hotel. It's one of the best holidays we ever had so we have fond memories of Montenegro.

Well, I'm a (early '20s) male fan :p

I'm also sure that I'm at least slightly acquainted with some of the boardies from KOKO/the O2/the film thing in Kent. I don't think I met anyone in Basel, and I don't think I knew anyone when I travelled to Lille (feels like ages ago now).

Not sure if that helps anyone with their JB statistics.

Plus, for the record: my mother got me into James Blunt (despite liking metal), but my fandom has now definitely overtaken hers :p

Male fan here, went to the october 5/6 shows in 2008 in Sheffield and Nottingham. Really looking forward to the new album! For me its the fact the songs have lyrics that mean something, and you can SING to them. Too many songs these days are mindless screaming.

And thats coming from a 25 year old :s

Civilservant,

Couldn't agree more, and I'm in my 40s. That's another thing that James is good at - appealing across the generations.

civilservant:

If what you're listening to is mindless screaming, you're listening to the wrong kind of music. I'd assume that you'd probably class my "regular" music as "mindless screaming", but the lyrics are *far* from meaningless (e.g., on topics such as genocide and animal rights) :p

Don't take offence, I'm just able to comment from the "other side of the hedge" so to speak.

My best male friend is the biggest male James Blunt fan I know..
It's André, I'm just not sure if he's a member here, but I think so.
I'll be on Blunty tour with him in March in Germany in some citys
All in all I know about 5 male James fans and they are all not gay, exept one of them!
André definately not, so there's still a hope for male, nice guys who like James music!

Looking at his Facebook followers, which I am told is more-often-than-not slightly female-orientated for musicians, James FB demographic is bang-on 60% women to 40% men.

When James posts things, men are less likely to respond, however. Around 30% of interactions are from men. 70% of interactions are from women.

It not a definitive answer. It's only FB - but I hope it's useful!

My hubby listens to James... admittedly he wouldn't have any choice in the matter anyway, but he really does like James' music...  Just as well really or I'd have to get divorced!

Well if he is, he needn't think he's going to get a ticket to the fans gig/special audience with our Blunty just because he wears that funny hat!  He can register on the boards and take his chances like the rest of us!

<Apologies to any devout Catholics out there.>
