I was sleeping on a sun bed while I heart an odd clanking noise. I opened my eyes and looked into the face of a small squirrel sitting on the garden fence. The squirrel frightend extremely much - it must be a horrible view to look at my face - "selected the reverse gear" and fell into a huge water drum.  The squirrel paddeled for its life, but could not get out of the drum. I was afraid it would drown. But I took a broomstick dipped it into the water and the squirrel clung to it and climbed up dripping wet but happy to be alive. I have never seen such a wet troubled squirrel before.

Yes, it is. And I hope this baby squirrel will survive. I love these small cute animals, (although they go nesting). Some of them live in the huge trees of my garden and I always enjoy to watch one of them from time to time. Sometimes I bring them nuts. And it was funny, as I had rescued the squirrel and started working in my garden, this small wet squirrel followed me, climed to another tree next to me and watched from above.

Once a month, I teach an orientation class to some of our new staff. It's a mixed bag: sometimes they participate, other times they're quiet; more than once someone's fallen asleep, since the class comes after lunch in a small and stuffy room. I'll admit it's not the most riveting of subjects. But mostly there are fewer than 15 of them. Imagine my surprise today when I walked into the room and found the class was more than double its usual size!

And what a great group they were - interested, good questions, participated. And at the end of it, a rarity: a nice round of applause. This has been a crummy week for me (working 10 hours, coming home and working a couple more, etc) - so this was a really pleasant surprise. Almost made up for the rest of it!

During my journey a small boy in the other cabin asked his father lots of questions without a break. How many stations are there in Germany? What ...? Why ...? How much ...? When ...? Where ... ? I sat behind them, but could not see this small blabbermouth, therefore I stood up and tried to see how he look like. A woman watched this and started smiling. My view went to her and back to the boy and suddenly I had to giggle and could not stop it. Suddenly everybody around me started giggling and the small boy looked so sweet as he recognized that he was the reason for the laughter. What a fun. I had still the smile on my face when I got on the next train. Sometimes a delay and a missed train has got also something positive.
